What about the Sabbath?

 So IS the Sabbath on Saturday or Sunday?

Drum 🥁 Roll please! How about neither ! 

Gods Rest is not about taking  a certain day off where we do no physical activity, but its  really about being obedient to “The Faith”and believing in the Finished Work of God in Christ. 

The Real Sabbath Rest under the new eternal covenant of God in Christ is about believing that we are now complete in Christ and that there is absolutely nothing missing or lacking in us . 

Its Jesus + Nothing = Everything 

It’s about resting from all your carnal doing for righteousness and its about resting in the only true righteousness of God found in Christ. 

Still not persuaded ? Then read Hebrews 4

The true Rest of God will only come into the hearts of those who don’t just hear the gospel but who actually believe it .

The gospel that declares it’s Finished.. 

Many who think that the Sabbath is all about taking a certain day off from physical activity so that God wont be angry at them are under a very wrong persuasion that does not come from the one who has called us into His Rest 

The Faith is not telling you that if you don’t cease from all physical activity on Saturday or Sunday that God is going to be angry and might even smite you ! 

No!!  If you believe this then you missed the whole point and truth about God and His Rest 

Listen to what Paul says in Col 2 

Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the SABBATH days : 

Which are a shadow of things to come; 

but the body is of Christ. Col 2:16-17 

True Rest is not about a day but it’s knowing that you are complete IN Christ 

Remember Jesus did a lot of stuff on the sabbath that really ticked off a lot of the religious crowd who were actually themselves full of unrest! 

But remember what Jesus said to the Pharisees who accused Him of breaking the sabbath? 

Jesus answered them, "My Father has been working until now, and I have been working." John 5:16-17

Jesus describes True rest as Resting in the Fathers work  who was working in Him ! 

True Rest will actually focus more on Gods work in us and through us then our work for Him! 

Rest lives more by the I Am , then the Am I ? 

When we believe what God believes then our heart will begin to manifest Rest . 

We will see the work of God in and through our lives when we Rest , out of Rest we will flow the good works of God 

but there are many who still do not believe this

Remember the flesh profits nothing, its the Spirit that gives life . 

Dead works are works of the flesh born from the carnal mind that are not initiated by the Spirit. 

Again true Sabbath Rest is really not about us taking a certain day off or time off from our doing works for God, 

But Rest is really about knowing that its God who is now working in us both to will and to do His  good pleasure . 

Its not about us taking a day off from our work for God or  trying to produce fruit for God for payment or reward. 

God is not our employer and we are not his employees! 

We don’t serve God in order to make Him happy!  Gods not in a bad mood when we dont take a day off , Gods desire  is to serve us with His life. 

God says Rest from your striving and you will then see my works .. stand still and behold the salvation of the Lord! 

its not about us producing fruit for God , but it’s about believing that Gods desire is about bringing forth His fruit in and through us as we simply Rest in Him. 

What does the branch do in order to bring fort fruit? 

It simply rests in the vine .
