 Ephesians 2:4-10  But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),  and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Col 3:1-4  If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

There are a few things that God wants us to understand these verses.

First

The Bible makes it clear that when Christ died we also died  with him, that is our Old Sin Nature was completely taken away and crucified with Christ (Galatians 2:20)

The Born Again Christian no longer has a sin nature, you have one new nature, that has been Born of the Spirit and your new life is now hidden in God,  in Christ, all the old things have passed away and all things have become new and are now of God .

We are now a new species that has never existed before (the bible calls us new creatures in Christ).

We are the very temple of the Holy Ghost (habitation of God), we are no longer like others who have not yet believed the Gospel of Christ. We are new creations in Christ.

Second

We were saved by grace through faith and that not of ourselves, it is the gift of God. When man fell there was no way for man (because of his depravity) to fix himself! All we have in Christ is a gift from God. Salvation is a gift, Righteousness is a gift, and The Holy Spirit is a gift from God. Man could not save himself neither can man maintain his own salvation or righteousness ( so quit trying !).

We are His workmanship. The Bible is also clear that it is God that is at work within in us, both to will and to do His good pleasure. The sooner we look to the one who is now alive inside of us and believe and rest in His work in us to carry out His purpose in this earth, then the sooner we will be set free and transformed from the inside out. We will also begin to experience the kingdom of God which is righteousness; peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.

This is the good news of the Gospel is that it is not our work, but  it’s His work.

The only thing we can do is to come into agreement with God and say thank you Lord for the gift of complete and total redemption that we now have in Christ. 

Third

We are now to set our minds on things that are above and not on this earth. We are to see ourselves right now in heavenly places in Christ, this is our new position in Christ. We have been baptized into Christ and we are now seated in heavenly places in Christ. We have the best seat in the house! Im not waiting to get to heaven, In Christ Im already there! So today I do not fight for victory, but I now fight from a place of victory and I rest in victory.
