Hearing the Voice Of God Part 1

Matthew 4:4
But he answered, "It is written, "'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"

Does God still speak today? or did He suddenly go silent after the Bible was complete? Many would say God only speaks to us through the written word and that everything He had to say can be found in the pages of the Bible but let me ask you a question how would a bride feel if on her wedding day her groom handed her a book and said this is the last time I'm speaking to you because everything I have to say is written in this book that Im giving you.  What kind of relationship would they have? probably very little to none. At most it would be a long distant relationship only sustained by letters or modern day text messages! I believe that we cannot have the real  true intimate relationship that God wants us to have with Him  nor can we be led by His Spirit unless we come to know and hear  His voice. Now I know some will say how do you know that its His voice isn't their the danger of being deceived by another voice that may not be His? Yes their is and that's one big reason each of us need to know the written or logos word of God as well. God will never contradict the logos or written word. He will never speak something to you that is contrary to the Bible but this still does not take away from the fact that God is still speaking by His Spirit today and we as believers should learn to know and hear His voice and be led by His Spirit. If we do not know His voice then we are in the greatest danger of all of being decieved by another voice. For the most part religion has taught us that God does not speak today nor does He work miricles and that it all passed away with the completion of the Bible and the Apostles but I personally do not believe that the Bible teaches this at all! This belief was actually passed down through the traditions of men that have made the word of God of non affect

Mark 7:13

Jesus told the religeous leadersof that day you have made  the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered....

Today many are listening to every voice but the voice of God! Many are listening to the voice of tradition or what they have been taught by man and not God. Others are listening to the voice of their own opinions or Ideas. Many things that have been built and done in the name of God and eveb for God that have not been inspired by God.  Remember the tower of Babel ? They were building something for God and in the name of God but it was not God Inspired. I wonder how many towers of Babel are their today? We must learn to know and hear His voice if we are to be engaged in what God is doing in these last days. In fact the Bible teaches us that its really impossible to for the church to even live without  knowing His voice and maybe thats why so many churchs are dead. Yes they may have good programs but is the presense of God in the Church?

John 5:25
Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
The dead are not just the physically dead but the spiritualy dead! If we are to come alive in Christ then we must learn to know and hear His voice.

I had a dream once and in the dream I saw a sheep with crazy looking eyes. When I looked at the eyes closer I saw that they were like pin wheels almost like the sheep was hypnotized so I asked the Lord what this ment and He said the sheep are hypnotized by their own pet peeves and opinions and Ideas.

John 10:3
Jesus said that His sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
4And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
5And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

Matthew 4:4
But he answered, "It is written, "'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"

This passage says that we cannot to live by bread alone that is natural bread that sustains the body but we must have the word that comes from the mouth of God. This word is not just the word that God spoke in the past it literally means the word that God is still speaking today! but the question is are we listening?
