What about. 2 Chronicles 7:14 ?

The other night I was watching a very popular Christian movie in which was organized another national time of prayer of pleading with God to hear from heaven and forgive our sins.

And as I listened to what they were saying it suddenly dawned on me that not one time was there any mention of Jesus or the cross.

The thought then came to me  is 2 Chronicles 7:14  a real scriptural way for Believers under the new covenant to even pray?

Now Let me me preface this by first saying .

Yes I do believe in prayer. I do believe in being humble. I do believe in our being dependent on God.

I do not believe that grace gives anyone a license to sin .. but grace will actually give us freedom from the dominion of sin .

But I don’t necessarily believe that
2 Chronicles 7:14  is really the best way for New Covenant Believers to pray.

First It’s contrary to the finished work of the cross , forgiveness of sins is not based on what we do, it’s not based on our pleading and begging with God to forgive us,

forgiveness  of sin is based on what Christ has already done for us and its based on faith.

Second : 2 Chronicles 7:14 was under the old covenant and at the time written was really directed toward Israel and not believers under the new covenant

As new covenant believers in Christ we don’t beg God or plead for God to forgive us . Why ? because In Christ... He already has!

Didn’t God say that under the new covenant that our sins and iniquities He would remember no more?

Then shouldn’t we just humbly agree with God  and thank Him for what He said that He’s already done ?

Yes I believe in Humility, but humility doesn’t mean groveling .

Humility is to agree with what God says is true.

According to the new covenant Jesus died and paid the price for all of our sins  and He did it once and for all ! Humility says.. Yes and Amen!

Remember Jesus was the lamb who took away the sin of the world ? Did or didn’t He take way the sin of the world ? I believe He succeeded .

Jesus died , He she’d his blood for our sins and it actually worked !  Mission Accomplished!

Our sins are forgiven..and we have been made righteous in Christ. Humility agrees with what Jesus has already accomplished.

He who knew no sin became sin so that we would be made the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:21

And haven’t we already been blessed with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places in Christ?

And hasn’t God already healed our land ? By His stripes I am healed ..

Maybe we should say.. If God’s people would simply humble themselves believe and receive what God has already accomplished in Christ then they would begin to  see the manifest blessings of heaven .
