Take away the branch

"I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.

Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.

Religion will often paint a picture of God running through His garden with a chainsaw hacking off branches that bear no fruit, but did you know that this is a gross mis-interpretation of scripture?

The word "take away" does not mean cut off, but it actually means to lift up! or to raise up!

In other words when a branch is not bearing fruit then the Lord by the Spirit and the word is there to lift up or to encourage those who are not bearing fruit.

God is a loving lifter! He is not a crazed
Chain saw maniac cutting off branches who don't produce fruit.

The other thing that we need to understand is that fruit is not something that we produce, but it's something that we bear.

A branch really does not produce fruit, but it will naturally bear fruit because it is attached to the vine.

As we simply rest and rely on Christ we will bear fruit. Fruit is a natural by-product of being in Christ.
