Be Holy, for I Am Holy

Be Holy, for I am Holy ! 1 Peter 1:18

We have often looked at this scripture as something that we must all set out  to do and achieve,
Its kind of like joining the Lords Gym and then working real hard trying our best to become as Holy as God is,but  sweating for Jesus is not the answer to becoming Holy. The  good news does not tell us that we must work hard to become Holy, rather it declares that we have already been created Holy in Christ. Holiness is something we receive and not something that we achieve.

Romans 11:16 if the root is holy, so are the branches.

The first question that we need to ask is this " Is the root Hoy? The root being Jesus and If the root is Holy then so are the branches. The branches are Holy because they have been engrafted into the root !

Holiness is not a by product of what you do or what you achieve, Holiness is something that God has already made you to be in Christ.

Ephesians 1:4 tells us that God chose to be Holy in Christ.

Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love. Today we are not becoming holy or blameless, the fact is that we are already holy and blameless in Christ.

It is impossible for you to ever become holy or righteous by your flesh effort or disciplines. If Holiness or righteousness could ever be achieved by what you do then Christ died in vain.

Galatians 2:21
I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain”

Today we are Holy and righteous, not because of our perfect obedience, but because of one mans obedience. That one man was Jesus Christ.

Romans 5:19
For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.

Through one offering He has perfected forever those who come to Him.

Hebrews 10:10
And in accordance with this will , we have been made holy (consecrated and sanctified) through the offering made once for all of the body of Jesus Christ (the Anointed One).

Today we are Holy and righteous, not because of what we do, but  because of the one we have placed our faith in.

No flesh can ever take credit for what Christ has already done.

1 Corinthians1:29-31
That no flesh should glory in His presence.
But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption—
that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.

We are made Righteous, Holy and Complete through the body of Jesus, not because of any self

Today we are Holy because of the new root  that we have been engrafted attached into.

Stop trying to achieve Holiness and instead rest in who God has already created you to be in Christ. Be Holy because He is Holy and you are now in Him.

Romans 11:16 if the root is holy, so are the branches.

Your Holiness is not based on any fleshly effort that you do to become Holy, your Holiness is based solely upon the one that you have been engrafted into !
Because we have a new root we will also bear new fruit.

We use to bear fruit of unrighteousness because of the old root that was dormant inside of us, but when we are born again the old root is taking out and we are given a new root. This new root is christ.

Today we have Christ nature inside of us and because of this new root we can now bear new fruit. 2 Corinthians 5:17

Romans 6:20
For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Holiness is a fruit of the new nature or the new root that is now in us. Fruit is not something we produce, but its something we bear because of the new root.

An apple tree does not strive to produce fruit, but it will naturally bear fruit because of its DNA.

Every born again believer  already has Gods DNA inside of him.

D.N.A. meaning Gods Divine Nature Attributes.

As we abide in Him we will bear much fruit.

All those who are in Christ have already been made Holy and Righteous, not only that, but all who are in Christ have also been made perfect in Christ.

Hebrews 10:14
For by a single offering He has forever completely cleansed and perfected those who are consecrated and made holy.

According to the word not only are we forgiven, righteous and holy, but we are now perfect in Christ !

Perfect meaning that there is absolutely nothing missing or lacking in our spirit.

Gods word does not say that we are  perfect and holy until the next time that we mess up, No ! We  have been completely cleanse  and perfected forever! And all of this became available to us through the one time offering of Jesus.

So stop trying to reach perfection and instead rest in the perfection of Christ.
