As I woke up this morning I believe that God drew my attention toward the word Behold.
What we Behold is what we will ultimately Become or you could say " what we Behold is what will ultimately manifest in and through our lives.
For example.
John the Baptist said in John 1:29 " Behold the Lamb who takes away the sin of the world"
The word Behold means much more than to just kind of casually look at or glance at, but it means to look at with intent, to pay very close attention to, to consider and to embrace or to hold on to the thing that your looking at or beholding.
In other words you will Be what you Hold on to ! Be-hold !
And let me say that something's we need to Hold on to and other things we to Let Go of !
Gods word tells us to Behold the Lamb... or to look steadfastly on Jesus, the Lamb that took away the sin of the world.
Notice it does not say behold Jesus who just covered our sins or forgave our sins but behold the Lamb who actually took away the sin of the world.
What was the sin of the world that Jesus took away?
The sin of the world that Jesus took away was the old sin nature that was passed down to all of us from Adam.
What the first Adam passed down, the last Adam ( Jesus ) took away!
For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous. Romans 5:19
Jesus took away the sin that was passed down to us from Adam.
Its also interesting to know that the word sin in John 1:29 is a not a verb, but a noun ! which means that the main thing that Jesus came to deal with was not just the act of sin, but the very nature of sin.
As we put our trust in Jesus and receive Him the Bible tells us that He takes away our old sin nature and gives us a brand new nature in Him.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17.
Notice once again the word Behold!
What does God now want us to now behold?
Does God want us to behold our past? behold our sin? our failures? No !
God says Behold the New You In Christ !
We are not transformed by Beholding our flaws or sin or by digging up our past!
we are transformed from the inside out by Beholding what God has created us to now be in Christ..
I am a new creation in Christ, old things have passed away: Behold all things have become new! I am a Saint ! I am the righteousness of God In Christ ! I have the glory of God and the fullness of God in me! I am a forgiven, redeemed child of the most high God! As I behold who I really am In Christ I will be transformed form the inside out..
As a man believes in his heart so is he.
2 Corinthians 3:17-18 tells us what we Behold is what we ill ultimately Become.
Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:17-18
